Where is the camp taking place?
The camp will be taking place at Khalsa Primary School in Slough. Wexham Road SL2 5QR.
When is the camp taking place?
The camp will be running from Monday 4th August 2025 to Thursday 7th August 2025. Friday 8th August 2025 is a Optional Day Trip to Bournemouth Beach
What is the age group of campers?
The minimum age is children who are currently in Year 1 (those who will be age 6 by the end of August). It is up to children in Year 13 at school. Unfortunately we can not accept those children currently in reception class. We will have adult classes everyday from 2:00pm, so anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to join those.
What times will the camp be running?
Key Stage 1 children – 8:45am to 3pm
Key Stage 2 children – 8:45am to 3:15pm
Punctuality for pick up and drop off is essential to get the most out of the camp. There will be no provision for the children to be on site after 3:15pm. Entrance to the classrooms and the main gate will be locked after 8:50am as all campers and Sevadars will be in the Gurdwara by then.
Will my child be required to bring a packed lunch?
No. All lunch, drinks and snacks are provided to all campers. Menu of the week will be emailed to all those who have registered. But if you would like your child to bring their own packed lunch then parents are welcome to do so if they wish. Packed lunches must not contain any meat products (including gelatin), fish, egg ingredients and no nuts.
My child has an allergy, will appropriate food be provided?
When you register, please make sure you specify all allergy information. We will endeavour to cater for all campers, but if there are any serious concerns we will contact you prior to the camp to discuss further details. As a rule, all food and snacks given will be vegetarian, egg free and nut free products.
Is the camp free?
There is a £50 donation requirement which contributes towards the running of the camp. The £50 donation is payable at the time of registration.
If you wish to donate any additional amounts to help with the running of the camp, please feel free to do so by clicking here. All donations given will be non-refundable as it is counted as a charity donation.
Does my child need to attend all 4 days or can they come for 2 or 3 days instead?
It would be best for them to attend all 4 days of the Camp. Failing that then the first couple of days of the camp at least would be best as they will get to meet their new group members on the first day so they will be able to make new friends. It will be much harder for them to integrate into the Camp if they come after the first day. Whichever days they can come they would be welcomed, but they would still need to pay the full fee of £50. There will be no reduced amount for coming to part of the camp. Please inform via email if your child can only attend certain days instead of the whole 4 days camp so this can be recorded on the register.
How much is the Bournemouth Beach Trip?
The trip will be the cost of the coach seats for those that come. It will be £15 per person. However, all children that come to the camp will go free with their seats being paid for by Slough Sikh School Trust as a reward for attending the camp. At least one adult must accompany a child that comes on the Trip.
How can I go on the Bournemouth Beach Trip?
You will be able to book tickets to the beach trip on this website closer to the Camp dates. It will be open to the public. Coaches will leave from Khalsa Primary School on Friday morning at 8:30am and return in the evening. All parents/carers will be responsible for their own children during the Beach Trip. No Sevadars will be taking responsibility for the children at the Beach Trip. All adults and children must return to the coach at the beach by the time given by the coach driver in order to leave promptly.
